Why the ranges are so wide.
Grocery and pharmacy shoppers usually arrive with a list, so most of them buy. Furniture and electronics are considered purchases that take several visits, so conversion per visit is lower. Store size, location, staffing and how visitors are counted all move the number too.
Measure your own baseline.
The benchmark that matters most is your own store, week over week. Conversion = transactions ÷ visitors × 100, using the same period for both. Transactions come from your POS; visitors need a door counter.
